We would not recommend this to those new to 3D printing and/or to Simplify3D.

After a ton of troubleshooting, my only work around right now is to set Retraction Vertical Lift to ZERO 0 in Simplify3D. Not sure why this fixes the issue but it does.

Nov 15, 2015 · I recently had to turn of the retraction settings for a couple of prints to get them to print out - see attached photo. The one on the left is the failed one due to filament grinding, the right one succeeded with retraction completely off but obviously has a lot of stringing. As often it is a combination between retraction and nozzle temperature settings to get the best results to reduce stringing. If the nozzle temperature is too high, the molten filament is so liquid (has a low viscosity) that the nozzle will leak during moving to the next location. does anyone know why the retraction points are different here? problem description: retractions are set inside (X145/Y150) (home=300/0) until the section shown in the screenshots, the retraction points are all inside the model, then suddenly they are generated outside. just for 2 or 3 layers.

If you are using simplify3d, once you import the factory file, open the process settings and click the + symbol next to the auto-configure for material. Type in PETG and and update the profile. So, I googled this issue. It seems that I can tweak the retraction to minimize the seam. Some posts indicate me that I should set the retraction speed as mush as possible. However, I don't know what's the maximum retraction speed for Creator Pro.Does anyone know this?

Simplify3d extrusion width I can’t seem to find some good retraction settings to reduce those. I asked this before but was having other issues that have since been resolved. There were suggestions to use Simplify3D but I would rather try getting it tuned in Prusaslicer. Can anyone provide any input on settingS that might reduce these bumps?

Large retraction settings may require tuning Klipper. The maximum speed and acceleration of retraction moves are controlled in Klipper by the max_extrude_only_velocity and max_extrude_only_accel config settings. These settings have a default value that should work well on many printers.

Are any of you successfully using an unmodified Da Vinci Jr 1.0 with the Simplify3D software, and if so have you shared your settings anywhere? I'm new to 3d printing, and I'm having difficulty getting it to work with Simplify3D. The first layer almost never works. For PLA we stick with retraction settings no higher than 0.8mm. Bowden configurations are more tricky as the amount of retraction needed is dependent on factors such as the length of tubing and the stiffness of the filament has more impact on the needed retraction. A good starting place is around the 2mm mark, which you can increase if required. So I began to heavily (very heavily) tweaks my settings until i realise it had nothing to do with it ! Since then I've discovered the extruder stepper driver was faulty. Problem now is that I've modified my settings so much that I can't get a print right. Could you please share some of your working settings for PETG with mattercontrol ? Thank you !

Since there is a much longer segment of filament between a Bowden extruder and the heating element, the settings for the retraction speed and retraction distance will also need to be adjusted. 2. After you are more confident in these settings, you may wish to add a very small amount of retraction with a slower retraction speed to help with any potential oozing from the hot-end.
